FDA: Cancer warning on coffee unnecessary - KBTX

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has stated that putting a cancer warning label on coffee is "misleading to consumers."

The warning labels came about because a California judge ruled that the presence of the chemical acrylamide in coffee necessitated the warning label under a new law.

Dr. Seth Sullivan from Baylor Scott & White Health says he's applauds the statement from the FDA.

A warning label on coffee seems just plain silly...

After all, I like what the Mayo Clinic has to say.

Coffee has been around for a long time and blamed for many ills — from stunting your growth to causing heart disease — but newer research shows that it may actually have health benefits.

Recent studies have generally found no connection between coffee and an increased risk of heart disease or cancer.

Does coffee offer health benefits?
