The man walking ahead of me on the jetway coughed.
I looked nervously at my husband as we exited the plane Thursday afternoon following our flight to the U.S. from a family vacation in Germany and Austria.
“Don’t worry. I think he’s just a smoker,” my husband said to me as I slowed to keep some distance. “Look at his hands twitching a bit. He hasn’t had a cigarette in 10 hours, probably.”
I unclench my jaw a bit, making a mental note to wash my hands as soon as we get through customs.
