On the Road: Travel predictions are low this July 4th - Jacksonville

It’s the Fourth of July holiday weekend, when millions usually take to the highways and flyways on big summer vacations.

But even though gasoline prices are way cheaper than last year, new research from the Automobile Association of America shows the coronavirus has impacted travel plans for Floridians.

AAA forecasts Americans will take 700 million summer trips nationwide based on economic indicators and state reopenings. That number is down nearly 15 percent compared to last July through September, the first decline in summer travel since 2009.
