How I Travel: Jemaine Clement Prefers to See the World by Bike - Conde Nast Traveler

If you’ve exhausted your Netflix queue, are tired of your podcast roster, and don’t have the attention span for a book these days, you might consider a new TV show, like What We Do in the Shadows. Now in its second season and created and produced by Jemaine Clement, the FX comedy follows a set of roommates who are stuck together in New York City, which may sound familiar at the moment—except they’re all vampires.

Clement, whom you might recognize from comedy duo Flight of the Conchords, also directed, produced, and wrote the mockumentary-style show of the same name. The New Zealander has spent the last two decades or so traveling from his homeland to Los Angeles and beyond for his career, and has come up with some pretty good tricks for passing the time on long-haul flights. In a February chat with Condé Nast Traveler, he shared that advice, rhapsodized about the need for jandals (that’s flip flops to you), and told us his favorite travel memory, which is appropriately bizarre.
