ReFED, a collaboration of 50 retailers, government leaders and organizations, <a href="https://www.wastedive.com/news/refed-food-waste-retailers-opportunity-guide/515401/" target="_blank">estimates the cost of food waste</a> is more than double its original profit potential, calculating it as an $18.2 billion opportunity for grocers.
