The American Heart Association says most Americans consume too much sodium: about 3,400 milligrams a day. The <a href="https://www.heart.org/-/media/data-import/downloadables/pe-abh-why-should-i-limit-sodium-ucm_300625.pdf" target="_blank">AHA recommends</a> no more than 2,300 milligrams a day.
