An island or isle is any piece of sub-continental land that is surrounded by water. Very small islands such as emergent land features on atolls can be called islets, skerries, cays or keys.

Santiago Island is an island of the Galápagos Islands. It is also known as San Salvador or as James Island. The island consists of two overlapping volcanoes. Marine Iguanas, sea lions, fur seals, land and sea turtles, flamingos, crabs, dolphins, and sharks are found here.

This is billed as the oldest and best known lighthouse in The Bahamas & the oldest surviving lighthouse in the West Indies. It is located at the western tip of Paradise Island, marking the entrance to New Providence & the Port of Nassau. It was built in 1817, when the island was known as Hog Island.
